We're just running a test

An Important Announcement.

I’ve been stressing over this decision for the past two days, but I think ti’s best. It’s with a heavy heart that “Ariel” Will be the last episode of Abridged. There are a lot of reasons why I’m choosing to discontinue the series.

 -  --1.Time. This series takes a lot of time to do and when RL gets in the way, it makes it incredibly stressful to get things done.
-- 2. I’m really growing displeased with the fandom and am trying to make measures to remove myself from it as much as possible so I can enjoy the show and not deal with the crazy. Yes, I know that's not right for those of you who aren't bloody insane...but I need to do this for my own sanity/frustration levels.
3-- 3. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with the show’s message concerning the villains. This has always been an issue for me and will continue to be until the villains actually start having some friggin’ regrets and remorse for the people they’ve hurt. I thought the writers might have learned their lessons last season with Regina but we’re having the same go-round with Hook. No remorse, no regrets, no apologies to the people they’ve severely hurt…but they expect us to buy redemption because the villains do the very very basic of doing something good. I can’t do that. As someone who was an abused child, it makes me physically ill almost that they continue to let Regina near Henry despite her having no regrets about the things she’s done because it got HER what SHE wanted. It makes me ill that the abuse is only brought up when it serves a plot point. (The last time it was actually brought up as a legitimate in show complaint was “We are Both” and the redemption angle was weak and didn’t last. It sort of makes my stomach turn that Hook sold out Bae and would’ve died for all Hook knew, and this has never been brought up again because all of a sudden, Hook’s in love with Emma (Who he was prepared to let die a week ago as long as he got his revenge) and the writers don’t want us to remember that he’s done horrible things to people as well. I’m growing more and more disenchanted by the idea that these villains continuously get away with hurting people and the heroes let them get away with it.
4.      4. Some other projects I’m working on have my interest

So, I will be putting the Abridged up after “Ariel”. Leaning on the ‘permanently’ side of things for now, but I will keep the photos and I will keep an open mind for now…it depends on how the show goes and if I start to actually miss this.

  1. *sigh* I understand. I'm definitely going to miss this, but the series can't work without you actually enjoying it and no offense, but season 3 you've done nothing but complain about Hook or make tired Rumple/Emma jokes.

I was expecting something huge with Pan's character(who IS just as much popular as Rumplestiltskin), but nah, it's just another run-in-the-mill.
Still, I'll definitely come back to check out this abridged in its prime. Hope you change your mind, I thought season 3's first part was great compared to season 2 and I'm really looking forward to the second part.
I never actually noticed they were pulling a Regina with Hook(I guess that's why you 'shipped' them), probably because I was used to it already.
But you should remember that one character has worked hard for his redemption in this show and that's Rumplestiltskin. So there is hope.

  2. Updating on my earlier comment, can't you at least do it up to 3x11?
Rumple's "I'm a villain and villains don't get happy endings" would make a nice finishing touch.

  3. I totally understand. I've pretty much given up on the show too. I didn't like season 3 really. Basically all that's left of this show in my life is your abridged series and your Queen's Bane story because I like your stuff. Once they are both done I will stop reading OUAT fan fiction. I have been working on a OUAT fan fic since august that I'm really trying to finish so I can be done with this show forever. You should do what is best for you, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. This show is pretty effed up, I think it's damaging even. I fully support your decision.

    1. I wonder what the show would be like if the curse hadn't been broken...

  4. Dang I was really looking forward to episode 7... season 3 was a bit of a mix for me because on one hand I liked Neverland but on the other I really hated the flashbacks to Snow and Charming... I am SOO tired of their flashbacks. Unless there are Neverland flashbacks, I'm probably giving up on the series too.

Like you, I also hate that they let Regina near Henry still... and I also hate that everyone is part of their stupid family drama and I hate that Pan is Malcolm... I would have rather he had been a brother or a friend of Rumple.

Everyone needs to work on themselves and it's important to be mentally healthy and happy. Do what you need to get yourself sane again and I, for one, would be happy to see your abridged series go at least until the end of part 1 of season 3 if at all possible.

  5. I will be sad to see this go, but I do understand. I am also disgusted with the way the writers have handled the villains and how this has lead to a crazy fanbase that is even more willing to ignore abuse and murder. More often than not, fans hate the good guys and love the bad guys. And now this whole travesty of the death spoiler, I can only assume released so soon to get ratings, has set my respect for A&E at an all-time low.

    1. Um... no offense but what "travesty of the death" spoiler would that be?

    2. I think it refers to Rumple, who will reappear next season, in scenes with Belle, in the same world. The phrasing of the declaration implied that he was still alive.

  6. Aw, that's a shame you're stopping - but if it isn't even fun to mock anymore, it's time to jump ship. It would've been cool if you could have made it to the mid-season ending, since that would have been a nice stopping place, but I can understand just not wanting to work on this anymore. It seems like a lot of time and effort! I really enjoyed all of it - and your season 3 is way more entertaining than the real show. You picked up on all my criticisms so well, and expressed them better than I can! Thanks for writing as much as you did!

  7. I will be really sad to miss out your opinions on the show, but I think it is best too. I know how tiring it is to be a college student and be overworked AND have to deal with other things. You were growing more and more displeased with the show and you don't have to torture yourself watching it just for us. I hope we'll see more of you and your video parodies (they were really great). Bye !

    1. She's still watching the show, she's just bored with pointing out its mistakes. Just saying.
